After a brief Acknowledgement of Country, this page offers 7 videos on initiatives in Reconciliation from the last two decades.  For most of the people interviewed, on the left you can click through to the full interview (longer); and on the right, click through to a shorter version with key excerpts.

For those who don’t know the Australian context, Reconciliation to its supporters refers to the journey to improve relations between settler Australians and Indigenous Australians: dispelling ignorance, reducing prejudices, eliminating discrimination, increasing empowerment, and working towards equality and sovereignty.  There is an organisation called Reconciliation Australia (link to https://www.reconciliation.org.au/) and in 2023 their annual National Reconciliation Week campaign was called Voices for Reconciliation Through the Generations.  Some of us were inspired to try to bring together interviews with psychologists about projects, initiatives, and lessons from the journey through many decades in Australia.

Do you know more?  We'd love to be able to document some of the initiatives from earlier in psychology or at UQ, whether with interviews or in text form, as well as to recognise our first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates from the honours program, as well as our masters and PhD programmes.  Please reach out if you're interested in contributing to this history of our discipline, to [email protected] .

Scroll down to see links to each video, or if you like, you can jump to watch the whole playlists:
  • all of the short versions [~72 mins total running time, 9 videos];
  • or the full interviews [~291 mins total running time 9 videos].
